5 Golden Rules of Direct Mail

1) Do Not Confuse You Reader
Do not confuse your readers about your product. Make it clear what your are selling. Front covers with hidden messages in their content may look good, but when the reader turns over the page they must understand what you are about

2) Get To The Point
Do not try to fill your Sales Literature with superfluous information. If you have a discount or offer to make, let it be made early.

3) Keep Your Direct Mail Pack Simple
Designs of literature can come in many shapes and sizes. It may look good with lots of complicated graphics, but it may not sell. Keep the word, the message and the design to the theme of what you are selling.

4) Decide On Your Market
Address lists are very sophisticated. there are also lots of them. Decide at the start who you think will want to buy your product. Do not waste money by mailing to markets that will not be buying.

5) Motivation
Starting your Direct Mail Pack is not easy. Do not give in when you first start putting ink to paper. You may find your first words tell you what you do not want to say. Try again. Once you know what you do not want to say, it becomes easier to write what you want to say.
